Everything you need to know about joining and participating in CatsDojo

Getting Started

CatsDojo is an invite-only community for serious entrepreneurs who are actually building and shipping products. We're not a networking group or a mastermind - we're a place where real builders share what's working (and what's not) without the BS.

You need to apply and be approved by our team. We only accept founders and operators who are actively building products or companies. The application process involves sharing what you're working on and demonstrating that you're shipping real products to real customers.

Yes, CatsDojo is completely free to join and participate in. We believe that knowledge sharing shouldn't be behind a paywall. Our goal is to create the best community for builders, not to make money from membership fees.

We accept less than 10% of applicants. We're looking for people who are actively building, have shipped products, and can contribute meaningfully to the community. We prioritize quality over quantity.

Community Guidelines

Share what you're building, metrics, failures, successes, and ask for specific help. We encourage transparency about your business, including revenue numbers, user counts, and challenges you're facing. What we don't want: self-promotion, idea validation posts, or general networking.

We avoid politics, religion, and anything that doesn't relate to building companies. We also don't allow pure self-promotion, affiliate marketing, or posts that are just trying to drive traffic to your product.

Context matters. Sharing your product as part of a story about what you learned, metrics you achieved, or challenges you faced is great. Just dropping a link and saying 'check out my product' is not. The focus should be on helping others learn from your experience.

First violation gets a private warning. Second violation results in a 7-day timeout. Third violation means permanent removal. We also have zero tolerance for harassment, sharing private information, or violating NDAs.

Privacy & Security

Yes, absolutely. What's shared in CatsDojo stays in CatsDojo. Members agree not to screenshot or share conversations outside the community. We operate under an implicit NDA - your sensitive business information is safe here.

No, please don't. Our community thrives because people can be open about their challenges and failures. If members worry about their words being shared publicly, they won't be as open and honest.

We verify that applicants are actually building something by checking their product, website, LinkedIn, GitHub, or other proof of work. We also do background checks to ensure they're who they say they are.

We collect basic profile information (name, email, company) and track community engagement to improve the experience. We never sell your data or share it with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Community Features

Every Tuesday, we send a curated newsletter with the best discussions, insights, and resources from the community. It's free for everyone and includes case studies, tool recommendations, and lessons learned from our members.

We occasionally organize meetups in major cities when there's enough member interest. These are informal gatherings focused on real conversations about building companies, not networking events.

Members often connect directly for advice, mentorship, or collaboration. While we don't facilitate these connections formally, the community is very supportive of members helping each other.

We regularly host AMAs with successful founders who've been through exits, major funding rounds, or significant growth. These are intimate sessions where you can ask real questions and get honest answers.

Technical Questions

We use a custom-built platform designed specifically for high-quality discussions. It's not Slack, Discord, or Facebook - we built something optimized for meaningful conversations between builders.

Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. For now, our web platform works great on mobile browsers and we're optimizing the experience continuously.

We integrate with email for notifications and have some basic analytics integrations. We prefer to keep things simple rather than building complex integrations that might compromise the user experience.

You can customize your notification preferences to get updates on replies to your posts, mentions, or weekly digests. We try to be thoughtful about not overwhelming your inbox.

Membership & Access

Members can refer people they think would be a good fit, but every applicant still goes through our standard review process. A referral helps, but doesn't guarantee acceptance.

You can reapply after 6 months. We encourage you to keep building and shipping products in the meantime. Many successful applicants were initially rejected but came back with more to show.

Yes, if you violate community guidelines repeatedly or stop being an active builder. We also remove members who become inactive for extended periods to keep the community focused.

We don't have a traditional waitlist. When you apply, we review your application and either accept, reject, or ask you to reapply later. The process usually takes 1-2 weeks.
